I'm not sure whether to be impressed or appalled. I guess deep down I'm just a bit jealous that I didn't do it. I would have course got written permission to do it and worn a safety hat.

The pictures of Leeds from above make me wish I was a Polish crane driver working late at night.

This is part of a growing trend to do illegal things like trespassing and then document them accurately on-line. I think these kids will be okay, but I wonder how long it is till someone gets themselves convicted with evidence they've published themselves onto the Internet.

The pictures are impressive. All part of the guerilla art movement I suppose - you know it's probably illegal and dangerous but you've got to be impressed at their sense of adventure.

Still, the Daily Mail will probably be in outrage soon at the risks these kids are taking, but let's face it - sooner or later someone's going to die from stunts like this. Their choice to take the risk of course.

The bit they wrote that worried me was:

Me and Turk have had our eye on this for ages, so we finally went for it on Fri Night.

I might be jumping to conclusions, but I read that as "after we'd had a few too many drinks on Friday we decided to climb a huge crane". It reminds me of the government info ad they're showing at the moment about drunk people feeling invincible and then falling off scaffolding and killing themselves.

Still I am impressed at their adventurousness and if the Daily Mail is against it, then I'm all for it.

Well, these guys are renowned Urban Explorers - I'd imagine that they do this instead of getting pissed/high like some other lads their age.

Fair play to them - we get to see a part of our city that we wouldn't have seen otherwise

You're right. I think I'm turning into a bit of a fuddy duddy in my old age.

Love the Urban Explorers link David - good to know that somebody is doing something with our industrial heritage from the days when we made something.

Forget being young. It's never to late to do something a little reckless (as long as you take all the necessary safety precautions).

From what I've seen of Times Square in films, you definitely do.

Hey, part of the fun is the danger. Good for them! Although, if my kid ever did that...grrrr.

GREAT photos.

They remind me of my brothers. side note - they look a little old to be called kids, even though I'm beginning to call anyone under just that. Anyway, my daughter used to roller-balde to get around when she was in high school. When she told me about taking the steepest hill near our home, I did thank her for telling me after the fact, I was just better off not knowing.

Am I missing something? What make those pictures amazing? Looks like a city to me.

If you look very closely you'll find a secret ... No, not really.

We're all different and like different stuff. I think they're amazing, but maybe that's because it's my city.

I've done stuff like that from time to time, minus the trespassing I suppose. Ignoring safety warnings, climbing into/onto/over things I probably shouldn't have to get a couple of cool photos. Sometimes it worked out, sometimes it didn't..but I haven't died yet, so I'll put them all in the "win" column I think :)

I don't get it. It looks to me like they just went to the top floor of the building.

The first few pictures are from the top of the building that the crane is on top of. I gather the later pictures (the cityscapes) are from the top of the crane itself.

I love the pictures. Honestly, though, I think I was even more entertained by reading the British slang in the forums.
